It's not always easy to know how to dress and cover your baby as the seasons change!
Did you know that new parents often tend to over-bundle their baby? The basic rule to go by: one more layer than you, whatever the season!
Never rely on their hands, their feet or their nose, the extremities are always cooler. Instead, touch their back or the nape of their neck:
Keep the temperature between 20 and 22°C. An overheated baby will react more strongly to temperature changes (crying, shivering). There's no need to put a hat on your baby indoors, or at night.
Avoid snowsuits in the car seat (dangerous with the harness). Choose a bunting bag instead, it's more practical and safer. Be sure to protect the extremities (cheeks, ears, hands, feet) from frostbite.
The one-extra-layer rule still applies. A mid-season cover or a blanket can come in very handy when you head outside!
Go for lightweight, loose-fitting cotton clothing. When you go out, protect your baby from the sun and from mosquitoes with a muslin cloth, a sunshade, a hat, suitable sunglasses and a mosquito net.
